Devon Payne Employee Profile

Devon Payne, B.Eng.

Financial Analyst

Devon Payne is a Mechanical Engineer Graduate with a Minor in Industrial Economics. In his later years of studies at Carleton University, Devon focused in automation & optimization, learning to push excel & MATLAB to their limits. Now, he puts these skills to use for corporate & personal financing as a co-owner of a small Income Tax Preparation business on the side.

A "number cruncher" by nature, his work includes in-house financial management in addition to providing accurrate & realistic financial projections for Reserve Fund Studies for condominium corporations with varying complexity. Under the wing of Capacity Engineering, Devon has crafted a Reserve Fund Life Cycle Analysis sheet using a combination of queries, indexing & VBA in Microsoft Excel, using a database that has been populated overtime from published RSMeans data, and hasn't failed him or his clients since.

  • Hobbies

His typical week includes rock climbing at coyote, skiing during the winter, and hanging out with friends, that is whenever he's not happily spending time with his partner and her puppy.

  • Best Part About CEL

The best part about working at CEL is the feeling of family. I'm known to be nervous in new settings, especially with people I'm not familiar with, but even with the short time spent in the office meeting the team while waiting for my interview made me feel more comfortable than any other interview I've had to date. Since my hiring, I never once had a feeling of being unwelcomed or unappreciated with the work I do and have done for CEL, and I look forward to continuing to forge bonds among colleagues, both current & future.
